BRAND STORY: MCKINLEY TRANSITIONS THERAPY
Judy McKinley is an Atlanta-based counselor and psychotherapist in private practice. She sees older adolescents, adults, seniors, and couples, and enjoys providing a safe and supportive opportunity for exploration, healing, growth, and change. Judy has worked in mental health for sixteen years, and has been in private practice since 2003. She specializes in helping clients through life transitions.
Judy asked us for help creating a distinct and authentic brand identity for her practice, including a redesign of her website.

We began by renaming the company from simply McKinley Therapy to the more distinctive and descriptive McKinley Transitions Therapy.
Next, we designed a logo. Judy hadn't used a logo for her therapy practice previously, so we had a blank slate to work from.
We chose a soothing arts and crafts font to match up with Judy's personal style. We then created the lantern shape in the middle to look both like an arts and crafts lamp or lantern and like a window. The lantern symbolizes lighting the way, just like Judy does for her clients. Similarly, the window symbolizes seeing through and out, like Judy helps clients do during difficult times in their lives. We added a bit of ray action around the lantern figure, an irregular edge to the outer circle, and the words "Atlanta" and "Since 2003" to give the whole thing a bit of a vintage vibe.
Judy's old website was created with a basic Yahoo template, and while the quilted background provided a glimpse into her warm and comforting style, the whole thing was very dated and lackluster. Some professional attention made all the difference in the world.
With our redesign, website visitors now feel like they are really getting to know Judy's personality and authenticity. The image intensive layout draws visitors in and allows them to preview Judy's welcoming demeanor before they ever meet her in person. In addition, the site now has a lot of helpful information for those considering therapy including frequently asked questions, a self help section, and success stories.
